NSW: Carr increases lead despite transport woes

The New South Wales government has increased its standing in opinion polls despite
continued problems with train running times and hospital treatment.

The latest Morgan poll has found the ALP increased its primary support in July by 3.5
points to 44 per cent.

And it leads the coalition 56.5 per cent to 43.5 per cent on a two-party preferred basis.

Primary support for the Liberals and Nationals is at 38 per cent.

Among the minor parties, the Greens are at a healthy 10 per cent, dwarfing the Australian
Democrats on 1.5 per cent, One Nation on one per cent, with 5.5 per cent for various independents.

Pollster GARY MORGAN says Labor supporters typically felt the CARR government has made
a mess of the transport system, but is competent overall.
