FED: Beazley says preselection row not damaging for election
Federal Opposition leader KIM BEAZLEY has deined suggestions the preselection row over
the New South Wales seat of Robertson may harm Labor's election chances.
The ALP national executive is meeting in Sydney today to attempt to resolve the row
between TRISH MORAN and BELINDA NEAL, who lost the preselection ballot for Robertson to
MORAN.
Ms NEAL is the wife of New South Wales Labor powerbroker JOHN DELLA BOSCA.
She's alleged malpractices and major rule breaches took place during the preselection process.
Mr BEAZLEY says today's meeting is about fixing the party's internal affairs, and the
party's electoral chances remain good due to strong policies.
Prior to the meeting, Ms NEAL told reporters she is expecting a fair hearing, and has
ruled out the prospect of legal action if the national executive rules against her.
Mr DELLA BOSCA, a member of the executive, hasn't showed because of a conflict of interest,
however he will be voting by proxy.
