The Municipal Housing Authority has received a $250,000 federal grant for a new public housing drug-elimination program titled Jobs and Money.
Sharon A. Jordan, authority executive director, said Thursday that the program is patterned after the federal Weed and Seed project, aimed at ridding low-income areas of drugs and crime.
She said the new program has several facets, including setting up a "jobs junction" to help public housing youths hook up with jobs.
Jordan said the program also includes strengthening the authority's neighborhood watch organizations.
