NSW: Thousands affected by power failure

About 30 thousand residents in Sydney's south and north .. are without power this morning.

A spokeswoman for EnergyAustralia says insulators on high-voltage lines at Menai and
Berowra shorted about 9.45pm (AEDT) last night .. and repair crews had to wait for the
sun to rise and burn off the dew before they could get to work.

She says supplies should be restored shortly.





Lights are out in the Menai and Berowra areas .. including major intersections at Alfords
Point Road and the Bangor Bypass .. and police are directing traffic.

EnergyAustralia says customers who have lost power for more than 10 hours .. are entitled
to compensation for food spoilage.
