NSW: Government calls for tenders for shark meshing scheme

The New South Wales government is calling for tenders to run its shark meshing scheme
.. aimed at protecting swimmers on the state's beaches.

The three-year contract will cover 51 beaches from Newcastle to Wollongong .. and
has new conditions to reduce any impact on the environment following a review last year.

They include more checks on the nets .. and the continued development of a DNA database
for research into shark populations .. size and movements.
